Out and About in Cornwall

So what is it that makes Cornwall so special?

Cornwall is a county unlike any other in the British Isles. A holiday in Cornwall has something to offer everyone - all year round. The north coast has jagged cliffs, sandy beaches and rolling waves. The 'Cornish Riviera' on the south coast has little harbours and wooded estuaries; parks and gardens where sub-tropical trees and shrubs thrive in the mild climate. Inland, the wilderness that is Bodmin Moor, with its imposing granite tors is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.

Cornwall's close association with the sea and fishing has made it a firm favourite for food lovers everywhere. Cornwall's farmers have also gained a reputation for producing food of the highest standards in terms of flavour, quality, the environment and animal welfare. Meat, fruit and vegetables produced in Cornwall can be found in many quality restaurants throughout Cornwall. Farm shops and others supply these and other quality traditional Cornish produce such as chutney’s, preserves, honey, wine, cider and ale.

There are endless opportunities for outdoor activity of any kind, from walking the coastal paths, to surfing, to horse riding, to hang gliding. The choice is yours. Cornwall is also steeped in history and legend. There are castles and historical buildings, museums and art galleries, gardens and woodland, villages and pubs. Add to that a host of family attractions and you have the perfect holiday destination.

It is said that King Arthur was born in Tintagel Castle; that Cormoran the giant built St Michael's Mount; and that if you stand quietly near Penzance, you can sometimes hear the church bells ringing in the Lost Land of Lyonesse. A unique county with its own legends, language and traditions - Cornwall creates memories.
